Flamingo Yacht Charters

Looking for a way to relax, re-energise and reconnect with family and friends after lockdown?

A yacht charter holiday in Scotland excites the senses and awakens the soul. Whether it’s the sound of the salt-laden waves rushing by on an exhilarating sail or the gentle lapping of the ripples against the side of the hull whilst you lie in your cosy berth at anchor; the glimpse of a mighty whale or playful puffin; the smell of freshly caught seafood cooking on the barbecue or the taste of a special dram from a shoreside distillery, you are sure to find plenty of special moments to cherish on a sailing holiday with Flamingo Yacht Charters.

We have a wide selection of the largest and newest charter yachts in Scotland on our fleet and are sure that no matter which yacht you select, you will have an amazing adventure that you will be talking about for years to come.

So, what can you really do on a yacht charter holiday in Scotland?

Here at Flamingo Yacht Charters, we may be biased but we would say that there is no better way to spend your time off. Setting sail from our base at Largs Yacht Haven, you are immediately rewarded with panoramic views of islands and mountains in all directions. The hard part is deciding where to go first.

Enjoy sailing as little or as much as you fancy each day, take in the views and awe-inspiring scenery and spot some of the abundant local wildlife such as porpoises, dolphins, seals, otters & seabirds. Seeing a basking shark gliding silently by beneath you as you dangle your toes over the side of the yacht is something you will never forget. These gentle giants are often spotted in our waters so keep your eyes peeled!

If you are a foodie, you’ll be in your element.  We can recommend plenty of places to stop for a mouth-watering shoreside meal or to pick up some fresh provisions to eat onboard; seafood platters, local venison, farm fresh vegetables, free range eggs, freshly baked cakes and hand-made chocolates are just some of the things that we can let you know where to find whilst afloat.

For whisky aficionados, this is the dream holiday too. There are so many whisky distilleries within easy sailing distance from our base that you will be truly spoiled for choice. A sample itinerary that we would suggest would start with a visit to the Isle of Arran distillery at Lochranza, perhaps making time to check out the new distillery at Lagg before heading to Campbeltown to sample some Springbank, Hazelburn, Kilkerran, Longrow or Glen Scotia.  Once you’ve stocked up on essential whisky supplies in Campbeltown, you could head round the Mull of Kintyre for an unforgettable journey through some of the most beautiful sailing waters of the West Coast to the Isle of Islay, an absolute mecca for whisky fans. If you still have a thirst for more and time allows, the distilleries of Jura and Skye are also within reach.

Gin drinkers are in luck too, with artisan gin distilleries to be found locally on Bute, Kintyre, Arran, Islay, Jura and Colonsay to name but a few. Where better to celebrate gin o’clock than onboard a luxury sailing yacht watching the sun set over the bay whilst sampling a new gin from the local distillery that you have just visited? Bliss.

For those who love fitness in the outdoors, there are plenty of opportunities to take part in some shoreside activities. Stretch your legs by conquering Goat Fell on Arran, The Paps of Jura or Ben More on Mull. Take a leisurely stroll, hire a bike, play some golf on our coastal courses or run along the shore and hill tracks to be found all along the West Coast. If you’re brave enough you could just anchor up and dive in off the back of your yacht for a spot of exhilarating wild swimming and snorkelling.

So, whether you simply want to sail and enjoy the scenery, want to relax in quiet anchorages or explore picturesque harbour towns, get to know the locals or delve into the history of Scotland, enjoy mouth-watering meals in the shoreside cafés and restaurants or run up a Munro, we’d say that you won’t find a better way to do it on holiday than onboard one of the well-appointed modern yachts from Flamingo Yacht Charters.
